I started fishing when i was six years old. My brother has shown me how to catch trout in a little stream in our village in which we grew up. Since then i was addicted to it. My dad took me from time to time to a lake with stocked trout because fishing in our little village stream wasn’t allowed. With a greater break through my juvenescence i started fishing with my buddies Chris and Benni again. Now, i am 31 years old and i have been fly fishing for maybe five years.
Fly fishing, of course. Since i have been casting the first rod and fly line i am getting more and more addicted to it. For me it is all about the feeling being in beautiful surroundings walking up a ginclear river hopefully catching nice fish with my friends.
Can you tell us a little about your home waters and the fish you pursue there?
That is a really good question. In our region it is very tough getting a nice water to fish. So we have to drive at least two hours to nice rivers. Our way leads us mostly into beautiful bavarian sceneries.
What’s the height of the season for you? – What time of year is your personal favourite?
Height of the season is definately our yearly buddy-fishing-week. I like every season except those the rivers close for spawning time. Sad but of course necessary.
What are your favourite travel destinations?
I like Slovenia a lot. It’s stunning sceneries, nice fish and nice people make it absolutly special. I
like also Norge, Sweden and Italy (think a moment about the italian food with me).
What’s on the bucket list?
Never ending story i’d say. New Zealand, Canada, Swedish Lapland and so on
What do you like most about Thomas and Thomas rods? Which rods do you fish?
A nice deep loading 5 weight rod with fast recovery speed.
What’s your current go-to fly?
Pheasant Tail Nymph when something below the surface is needed. For dry fly fishing i really like little filigree ones.
